ULTIMATE SUSPENSE, MINDBLOWING SCREENPLAY
FULL STORY:
Even though they JIGSAW in Saw III, the latest installment in Lionsgate's hit horror franchise -- directed by Darren Lynn Bousman from a extraordinary screenplay by Patrick Melton & Marcus Dunstan -- offers fans the chance to see what turned engineer John Kramer (Tobin Bell) into a maniacal Jigsaw. While it's not a franchise reboot-origin story a la Casino Royale, Saw IV delves deeper into the character and the motivations of central protagonist far more than its previous entries rocked before.
Besides Jigsaw, Saw IV focuses mainly on the SWAT Commander Rigg , who is haunted by the loss of his friends-- especially Detective Kerry (Dina Meyer) -- at the hands of Jigsaw. Rigg is abducted by Jigsaw's new helper and finds himself engaged in a game designed by Jigsaw from beyond the gravepoint. Since Rigg is commanded with saving people, Jigsaw has set a series of interconnected traps that forces Rigg, where he has to his question his obsession and to know whether people must save themselves.
Rigg has only 90 minutes (hey, film's running time!) to follow Jigsaw's clues and rescue his latest victims from their grisly traps. The catch is that these particular victims are unrepentant criminals. Can Rigg save them all ?
While Rigg plays Jigsaw's game, FBI agents Strahm and Perez who are Rigg's boss Hoffman figure out what the last game of the last game is about. Their investigation leads them to Jigsaw's Jill, whom they suspect is involved in this game. It's through Jill's retelling of her past that we come to learn tha what has actually made John Kramer become the bloodthirsty Jigsaw.
